Mission Statement
The Humane Farming Association (HFA) is the nation's leading farm animal protection organization. Founded in 1985, HFA - a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity-has gained national recognition and respect through its hard work, integrity, and highly visible and successful campaigns against factory farming.
About This Cause
HFA's goals are to protect farm animals from cruelty, to protect the public from the dangerous misuse of antibiotics, hormones, and other chemicals used on factory farms, and to protect the environment from the impacts of industrialized animal factories. HFA's programs include anti-cruelty investigations, national media and ad campaigns, direct hands-on emergency care and refuge for abused farm animals, consumer boycotts, legislation, and youth humane education. HFA's campaigns continue to turn the tide against the abusive factory farm industry to stop the abuse of millions of pigs, chickens, and other victims of factory farming. Our groundbreaking work to expose and stop the abuse of animals in slaughterhouses is unparalleled. And HFA's efforts against Bovine Growth hormones have been pivotal in mobilizing the public against this cruel and dangerous dairy hormone. HFA's signature campaign-the National Veal Boycott-continues to be the single most successful campaign ever conducted against factory farming. This groundbreaking campaign has achieved an unprecedented droop of nearly 70% in the sale of drugged, anemic, and tortured baby calves. HFA's Farm Animal Refuge, Suwanna Ranch, offers hands-on emergency care, rehabilitation, and refuge for abused farm animals and is the largest farm animal rescue facility of its kind in the U.S. All combined, HFA's programs and activities represent the greatest hopes of those seeking to create a better world for all of earth's creatures.
