Mission Statement
Established in 1989 as a private, non-profit organization, the mission of KidsFirst is to end child abuse and neglect. Our vision is that all children live in a safe, healthy, and nurturing home. We are dedicated to helping families by providing them with the tools they need to cope with difficult life circumstances before they become overwhelming. With counseling and family resource centers in Auburn and Roseville, our programs target the most vulnerable children, families and neighborhoods. We strengthen families by Educating, Advocating and Changing Lives. Our programs include Wellness, Information and Referral and Education and Outreach.
About This Cause
ABOUT US: As the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) for Placer County with 35 years' experience and commitment to the community, KidsFirst stands out due to our expertise and experience. We provide a wide variety of prevention and intervention programs for children and families. KidsFirst functions as a single point of entry for information and referrals to an array of family support programs and services. We provide no-cost, friendly, accessible community hubs; here, families access a lasting network of wellness and support. We foster support among families and strengthen parent/child interaction. We respond to crises and link families to needed services. We are decreasing the risks of child maltreatment, strengthening individuals, families and the community. KidsFirst works closely with other community-based organizations and county agencies to ensure effective service delivery to meet the needs of children, families, and individuals. As the CAPC, KidsFirst conducts regular community forums to address and respond to issues impacting our clients and community. WHO WE SERVE: More than 72,00 children reside in Placer County, which is growing each year. Of that number in just the last year alone, 3,300 children & 2,600 families participated in our direct programs & services. Our programs & services are available at no charge to clients. Services are confidential, provided by trauma-informed professionals, accessible at two locations, and available in Spanish and English. KidsFirst partners with public and community based organizations such as Child Welfare System and Placer County Victim Services Center. We also receive referrals through schools, courts, law enforcement agencies, and health care providers. KidsFirst reaches out to the community to raise awareness and accessibility so that people know where and how to ask for help for themselves, children in their care, and their families.
