About This Cause
The Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of pets through adoptions, community spay/neuter services and humane education programs. We rescue 100% of the homeless pets in our community and also save the lives of animals facing euthanasia at other urban and rural shelters whenever possible. Over 99.4% of the animals who enter our shelter find permanent loving homes as we are deeply committed to our no-kill policy for all healthy, adoptable pets. We also offer many other vital programs to people in our community including: RUFF (Read Up For Fun) which helps children improve their reading skills by reading aloud to our trained, certified therapy dogs. Pet Assisted Therapy programs, which bring therapy dogs to patients in our local hospital so that they can experience the loving touch and warmth of an animal while they are in their healing process. Low cost community spay/neuter programs so everyone can afford to have their pet sterilized regardless of their financial position. The Pet Pantry Program offering free food to anyone in need. We strive to help animals and the people who love them in any way we can so that we can continue to strengthen the human animal bond.
