Mission Statement
We are a non-profit 501-C3 Wildlife Sanctuary and Educational Center dedicated to the care and preservation of exotic animals and native species.
About This Cause
The Wildlife Foundation was founded in 1994, and operates with a full volunteer staff. Located just a few short minutes south of Chico in Oroville, California, it is the only organization of its kind in California, from the San Francisco Bay Area to the Oregon border. The mission of the Foundation is to educate the public about the care and preservation of all wildlife and their habitats, both locally and globally. Part of our mission is to teach responsible ownership of companion as well as exotic animals. It is our belief that through up-close, hands-on experiences with the animals of the Foundation, and through our educational programs, the public will become more enlightened about the beauty of our wildlife and their habitats, and the vital importance of conservation. The Wildlife Foundation is home to a remarkable variety of non-releasable, endangered, and exotic animals. The majority of the residents who live at the foundation have “special needs.” Each animal is housed in an enclosure that far exceeds state and federal regulations. To promote awareness on a local scale, the Foundation is home to Black Tail Deer, White Footed Canadian Lynx, Mountain Lions, Bobcats, Coyotes, and a Grey Fox. Global representatives include Black Leopards, Asiatic Leopards, Snow Leopards and Clouded Leopards, Bengal Tigers, a Sumatran Tiger, White Tigers, African Lions, African Servals, Caracals, Siberian Lynxes, Ocelots, a Coatimundi, Fennec Foxes, Red Wolf, Wallabies, Ring-Tailed Lemurs and an assortment of exotic birds and reptiles, including a giant Albino Burmese Python, Alligator and Desert Tortoises. A priority of the Wildlife Foundation is to provide our resident animals with the best care possible to keep them not only healthy, but content as well. This includes daily exercise programs, enrichment activities, hands-on attention, the highest quality foods and medical care. In return, the animals allow the public the awe-inspiring opportunity to witness first-hand their beauty and their value as a natural part of our world’s ecosystems.
