Our mission is to provide information, education and support to promote and strengthen the foundation of families and children with special needs so they can face the challenges of the present and create new dreams for the future.
About This Cause
WarmLine was founded by and is staffed by parents who share the common experience of parenting a child with developmental delays or disabilities. Our vision is to cultivate and grow a culture where all children have dreams for the future. No referral needed, call us at 916-455-9500 or send an email. Parents who have questions about their child's development, developmental delay or disability (birth - 22 years old) such as: - How is my child growing, learning, speaking or behaving? - My child was just diagnosed with a delay or disability. Now what? Are there programs available? - Can special education help my child? - What options does my child have as they grow up (education, employment, independent living)? - How can I advocate for my child? - How do I connect with other families like mine? WHAT WE DO Early Start Family Resource Center - Funded by the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Serving families of children birth to 3 years old in six counties (Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, El Dorado, Nevada and Alpine counties) - Talk to a WarmLine parent who gets what you are going through...parenting can be a lonely job. - Family activities, play groups and workshops to: Build knowledge of parenting and child development, Create meaningful connections with other families, Foster children's social and emotional competence, which is the foundation of all development. - Assistance at age 3 with transition into special education services - workshops, information and one-to-one consultation. - Publications, website full of resources, family e-newsletter, Facebook, private Facebook groups (English and Spanish), Twitter, and Instagram. Special Education Support - Special Education workshops (2 1/2 to 22 yrs old). - Phone and in-person consultation about your child's special education rights and strategize your participation at IEP meetings. - Review assessments and Individual Education Plan (IEP) documents. - Publications, website full of resources, Special Education e-newsletter, Facebook, private Facebook group, Twitter, and Instagram.
