Mission Statement
West County Adult Day Care offers ten hours a day five days a week of comprehensive care for those living with Alzheimer's disease. We serve low-income families in West Contra Costa County who are caring for a relative with progressive dementia.
About This Cause
West County Adult Day Care/Alzheimer's Respite Center is a one-of-a kind program in Richmond California. The families who use our ten-hour day, five-day-a week program have chosen to care for their at-risk relative at home. Our comprehensive care and therapeutic activities, art, music, movement classes enhance the lives of those with early, mid-level and advanced Alzheimer's disease. Our hours of operation 8 am-6 pm allow some caregivers to work outside the home. We opened our doors in 1985. We have received awards and commendation from the City of Richmond, Contra Costa County, and the Alzheimer's Association for our work in the community. Our service allows families to avoid the heartbreak of placing a loved one in long-term care. Our program is the best preventative for caregiver burn-out and elder neglect. Hundreds of low-income families have benefited from our services. The fact that we accept clients with early, mid-stage and advance dementia makes us unique.
