Mission Statement
The NWA Center for Sexual Assault provides a safe haven of healing and hope for adult survivors of sexual assault or harassment, and their loved ones, while tirelessly working to create a safer future for all through education and awareness.
About This Cause
Our free survivor-centered services provide a safe haven of healing and hope for adult survivors. All of our services are offered in English and Spanish. Here is a list of those services: • 24-Hour Crisis Help Line –crisis intervention, referral information and emotional support to anyone dealing with the aftermath of rape and sexual assault. • Forensic Rape Kit Exam Services –post-assault examinations to gather rape-kit evidence utilizing trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. • Individual Advocacy – compassionate support, referrals and resources for the survivor through every step of the healing process: from reporting to exam to court process; and finding resources. • Therapeutic Counseling – free in-depth talk therapy to assist survivors exploring their long term healing needs. • Support Groups – giving sexual assault survivors a safe place to find strength and healing in knowing they are not alone. In addition to our in-house support groups, we do monthly large group work at Arkansas Community Corrections Women’s Prison. EFFECTIVE OUTREACH AND EDUCATION We are actively out in the community building coalitions and working to build awareness. Here are some highlights of these efforts: • Our team participates in numerous partnerships and collaborations working toward a healthier and safer community, including: the Victims with Disabilities Collaborative, the Benton County Domestic Violence Coalition and the Madison County Health Coalition. Additionally, we do hundreds of hours of education and outreach throughout our community every year. • We strive to create a victim-services environment that is welcoming to and accessible by ALL survivors. We turn our commitment into action in two distinct ways: with culturally-specific outreach projects designed by and for under-served communities; and by offering Diversity and Inclusion trainings to other victim-services and social-services agencies in our region. • Our collaborative outreach projects include: - GRACE for Survivors: Guidance, Resources, Awareness, Compassion, and Education for survivors of sexual assault and the faith communities that support them. - Let’s Talk NWA: providing a safe, nonjudgmental and confidential platform for addressing domestic and sexual violence in the black community through support, understanding and resources. - Kinke Kwojjab Make Iam (Because You’re Not Alone): providing a safe and confidential refuge for the Marshallese speaking community in addressing sexual assault and harassment through support, understanding and resources. - Estamos Contigo (We are with You): providing support - as well as education and resources - to adult survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones in the diverse Spanish speaking community. - Estamos Contigo (We are with You): Estamos Contigo provides support - as well as education and resources - to adult survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones in the diverse Spanish speaking community. - Project ARCH (Awareness, Resources, Compassion, and Healing for LGBTQI+ Adult Sexual Assault Survivors): Validating the experiences of LGBTQI+ Adult survivors of sexual assault; through awareness, services, and support. • Our Prevention Education Specialist focuses his training on engaging men and boys in combatting rape culture and creating safer environments. Women, men and non-binary people are negatively impacted by sexual assault. We envision a world free of sexual violence. Until then, we work to create a world where every survivor is believed and every perpetrator is held accountable.
