Mission Statement
Rise House Arkansas, formally The Women’s Shelter of Central Arkansas, has been providing assistance to victims of family violence in central Arkansas since 1995. What started out as a volunteer information hotline has grown into a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week hotline and shelter housing community members in need of safety. Over the past 12 years, we have grown to include a Sexual Assault Assistance/Recovery Program, support groups, transportation for our clients, and personal, legal, and child advocacy programs.
About This Cause
In all cases of domestic and sexual violence, no one is to blame but the perpetrator, who must be held accountable for his or her actions. It is our belief that no one asks or deserves to be abused and that victims of this crime deserve non-judgmental, unbiased and compassionate support as they make the decisions they need to make to regain control of their lives. We believe that domestic violence and sexual assault service providers best serve victims by helping them meet their needs without judging or evaluating the facts of the case or the legal or medical decisions made by the victim. We intend to be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team of community professionals who desire to see the end of domestic and sexual violence. With this community approach, we will begin to bring about change in our institutions, laws, policies, attitudes and beliefs that will allow women, children and men to live free from the threat of domestic and sexual violence.
