Mission Statement
Protect Your Area Code Foundation is strengthened by an unwavering commitment to transforming lives of underserved young people, aging adults and families with a deliberate focus on building community capacity, changing systems, and organizing action by eliminating boundaries as well as physical and social obstacles that prevent equity, diversity, and quality of life in an effort to foster and maintain healthy, safe and productive communities.
About This Cause
Called into existence to respond to the ‘real’ and immediate needs of all underserved people, PYAC, its partners, supporters, initiatives, programs and events will bridge the gaps between donors, grant-making organizations and communities to promote hope and enhance the quality of life in socially and economically underrepresented neighborhoods. Founded in 2006 with an initial focus to provide first- and second-year professional athletes with a viable organization in which they could work to impact the lives of the underserved in low-income communities and positively affect the lives of disadvantaged children and youth. Since then, PYAC has successfully contributed to the facilitation and management of several community events, health fairs, holiday food giveaways, toy drives, youth sports camps and fundraisers in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago, New Orleans, Cleveland, Dallas and Miami. In 2009 PYAC redefined its Mission and broadened its Purpose in an effort to affect the growing disadvantaged children and youth population, as well as the lives of their parents and grandparents residing in underserved communities, by providing programs and services that address basic human care needs, magnified challenges ushered in by a changing economy.
