Non-profit to raise funds to help partnering agencies as well as projects and activities to help create a community where everyone is empowered to achieve their full potential.
About This Cause
Capital Area United Way has been influential in our community since 1925 and serves a 10-parish area which includes: Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. We mobilize the community for social change and are committed to addressing current problems and reducing future needs. We work to invest community resources in programs of impact partners and impact initiatives that generate results in education, health, and income. We are about solutions, not just services; outcomes not outputs. Considering the growing need in our community for critical services, which were exacerbated following unprecedented interruption to daily life due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a systematic approach is even more important to ensure the maximum return on investment of donor dollars. To ensure this, we use research-based practices and dedicated community volunteers to find the most critical needs facing our 10-parishes and evaluate the ability of programs to meet those needs. Capital Area United Way (CAUW) fights for the health, education, income stability and basic needs of every person in every community. By implementing its 11 strategies for impact through support provided to 41 programs within 33 local nonprofits for a three year funding cycle; 45 projects for a 12 month funding cycle; 20 ALICE grants to fund programming targeted at improving the lives of those considered ALICE in our community; and 76 COVID assistance grants to nonprofits across our 10-parish service area. CAUW works to put people in a position to recognize and achieve their full potential.
