About This Cause
WCCDA envisions a community of diverse, empowered, and connected residents who come together as stewards of the land, the people, and the built and natural assets of White Center. We like to think of our work as a tree with ever-growing branches. We do this work through: •Family Development: We are dedicated to supporting the development and growth of White Center's early learners, young adults, and families by providing access to resources, fostering knowledge, facilitating leadership opportunities, and forging connections within the community. Programs such as the Play and Learn initiative and The Promise Celebration offer a space for children and caregivers to engage, learn, and build a sense of community. •Economic Development: We work to diligently toward fostering a vibrant and equitable economy in White Center, focusing on uplifting BIPOC voices and supporting small businesses, residents, and youth. Efforts are channeled into resisting displacement, amplifying community engagement, and addressing various economic aspects. •Neighborhood Development: This collaborative project initiated by the White Center Neighborhood Advisory Council, aiming to establish a haven embodying "Hope, Unity, and Belonging." It aspires to provide affordable housing and crucial services, fostering stability and opportunity for local working families. This initiative pays homage to the ancestral lands of the Salish peoples while emphasizing a collective engagement in this meaningful conversation within these sacred homelands.
