Mission Statement

About This Cause

The Children's Center, Inc., doing business as Bethany Children's Health Center is a private, non-profit health care provider serving children with complex medical needs and physical disabilities. Our organization has a rich history dating back to 1898 when Mattie Mallory, our founder, felt God’s call to help the orphans of Oklahoma City, creating The Oklahoma Orphanage. In 1939, when the need for nursing facilities to care for children with polio began to outweigh the need for orphanages, the facility became The Children’s Convalescent Home, and then in 1961, it became a specialized hospital, The Children’s Convalescent Hospital. Over the years, the hospital continued to grow and became what it is today, Bethany Children's Health Center. Today, we are an innovative leader in the field of pediatric rehabilitation and 24-hour complex care. Bethany Children's offers inpatient and outpatient services for children and is the only inpatient pediatric rehabilitation facility in Oklahoma. Our hospital has developed a strong regional presence for the highly specialized services it offers, including a dedicated unit that provides comprehensive medical and rehabilitative care to children and youth who have experienced traumatic injuries or illness, especially a traumatic brain injury and/or spinal cord injury. Patients at Bethany Children's come from across the state of Oklahoma, as well as surrounding states, such as Texas, Kansas, and Arkansas.
