About This Cause
Clarehouse is a community home for dying people during their final days. We collaborate with local hospices, who provide medical management, while we provide 24 hour support to the dying individual and family. This partnership avoids duplication of services while bridging the gap in care and funding at life's end. For terminally ill people who don't have family caregivers available to provide the necessary 24/7 care in the final days, Clarehouse provides an alternative to institutionalization. Our objectives focus on alleviating the caregiver crises that occur during one's final days along with the accompanying physical, emotional, financial and social burdens on families. With community support, Clarehouse care allows family caregivers to maintain their employment while not exhausting their resources. We enable families to have a quality dying experience without incurring further financial burden. We help individuals and families reclaim the dying process as a family event, rather than a medical one, empowering people to define and live out their individual definition of a good death.
