LifeSource began as a small food pantry 15 years ago, but today serves nearly 65,000 people a year throughout Northwest Arkansas. Our mission is "Strengthening Families, Building Communities." We offer an integrated, holistic approach to fighting hunger and poverty.
About This Cause
• LifeSource is a non-profit charity serving the hungry and poor throughout Northwest Arkansas. • In 2016, LifeSource helped more than 65,000 individuals, families and children. • In 2016, volunteers gave approximately 36,000 hours of service to needy families. • According to a recent U.S. Census Bureau study, Arkansas is ranked #1 in the nation in childhood and senior food insecurity, and third in the nation in overall food insecurity. LifeSource works to reduce poverty and hunger by offering five main programs that improve our neighbors’ quality of life. • After school and summer camp programs provide a safe environment for 300 children every year. • Twice a month, 100 senior citizens enjoy a hot meal, entertainment, and companionship during senior lunches. • Each month, LifeSource provides hot meals and food baskets to 300 families. LifeSource was founded in 2001 to serve the underprivileged, at-risk and impoverished people of Northwest Arkansas. Starting as a small food pantry in a closet, LifeSource had, within 10 years, grown from helping a few people a week to helping more than 65,000 a year. Our mission is “Strengthening Families and Building Communities.” We accomplish this by providing not just a handout, but also a hand up to individuals and families in need. Through our integrated, holistic approach, we meet urgent physical and emotional needs while at the same time offering hope for a future without poverty and hunger.
