Mission Statement
The mission of Iowa Safe Schools is to provide safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environments and communities for LGBTQ & Allied youth through education, outreach, and advocacy.
About This Cause
Iowa Safe Schools is a statewide LGBTQ youth nonprofit focus on providing direct services & programming for thousands of LGBTQ students each year. Their services and programming reflect the entirety of the queer youth experience, which are aimed to reduce suicide completion rates, homelessness, hunger, substance abuse, and other life altering obstacles. Through their extensive GSA Network (Gay-Straight Alliance) of 125 student led groups, our direct service outreach, affirming resource library, campus coalition, mental health resources, sexual health partners, Pride Camp, the Governor's Conference on LGBTQ youth, and student leadership council, Iowa Safe Schools has transformed the model of supporting LGBTQ youth. As they continue to expand and serve LGBTQ students in 99 counties, their motto is "Continuing the Fight for LGBTQ Youth".
