Mission Statement
It is the mission of Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. (CRR) to help people identify and overcome their barriers to achieve a stable life. CRR breaks barriers for people experiencing substance abuse, underemployment, and housing instability, with focused services for youth, Veterans, people with disabilities, and those referred from the criminal justice system.
About This Cause
Our clients range from highly educated or skilled job seekers to persons disadvantaged by homelessness, disabilities, older age, ex-offender status, and other significant barriers. We serve our clients without judgment to ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, or discrimination in any form. CRR is a nonprofit multi-service United Way of Greater Houston agency established in 1945 as the Jewish Vocational Guidance Services. Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. envisions people living lives of self-determination and financial viability through behavioral and physical wellness, education, workforce development, and affordable housing. The agency empowers job seekers with readiness training, career guidance, job placement assistance, job retention counseling, employment related support services, enrichment classes including GED exam preparation and American Sign Language for persons who are deaf or hearing-impaired. Additionally, we provide a Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program which links mainstream and veteran benefits, education, job training, housing, and other assistance particularly for job seekers affected by homelessness, ex-offender status, and the challenges of substance abuse. We help clients to enhance their quality of life in the following areas: • Literacy and Adult Basic Education, • GED and tutorials for those attending High School and Community College who face challenges in their studies, • Computer Skills, • Identifying Job leads, • Resume Writing, • Job employment application assistance, • Mock Interviews leading to Job Placement, • Career Coaching and Career Assessment • Job Placement Assistance • Substance Abuse Treatment Program
