Mission Statement
St. Vincent House provides essential services and resources to empower families and individuals to become healthy, self-sustaining and contributing members of our community.
About This Cause
Since St. Vincent's House was established in 1954, it has grown to become a well-known space that serves as a safe and trusted sight for families and clients in need, a large population of vulnerable and underserved residents in Galveston. It began as a small outreach ministry of St. Augustine of Hippo Episcopal Church to youth, located in a neighborhood in which residents faced numerous challenges, including high rates of poverty and a lack of basic health services. For over 70 years, St. Vincent’s House (SVH) has been a cornerstone of hope and healing in Galveston County, serving over 115,000 duplicated individuals annually. We prioritize those facing homelessness, poverty, food insecurity, transportation challenges and access to essential services, ensuring they receive critical services that foster stability and self-sufficiency. Our Integrated Care Model (ICM) includes an aggressive Homeless Prevention Program that processed over 2,000 case management applications for emergency financial assistance, helping individuals and families remain housed.
