Mission Statement
National Jewish Health heals, discovers, and educates as a preeminent health care institution. We are the place in the United States where people with the most difficult cases of lung, heart, immune and related diseases seek life-changing care. We serve by providing the best integrated and innovative care for patients and their families; by understanding and finding cures for the diseases we research; and by educating and training the next generation of health care professionals to be leaders in medicine and science.
About This Cause
National Jewish Health is the leading respiratory hospital in the nation. We were founded in 1899 as a free hospital for the homeless during the tuberculosis respiratory pandemic. Our physicians helped develop a combined chemotherapy for treating the disease. Now, with more than 123 years of experience, we continue to lead in respiratory and related medicine, during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. For a quarter century, National Jewish Health has been ranked #1 or #2 on the U.S. News & World Report list of Best Hospitals for pulmonology — or respiratory medicine. And because the lungs are intrinsically linked with many other systems within the body, our world-class scientists and physicians are pioneering advancements and developing global guidelines in areas that impact the lungs, such as the heart, immune system, brain and GI tract. They have made seminal contributions to the research and treatment of asthma, cancer, immunology and allergies. Our work is consistently recognized by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as promising and worthy of support. At National Jewish Health, we personalize each patient's care, applying the latest in clinical care and research, focusing on early detection and finding precisely the right diagnosis and treatment for each individual. We are experts in: • Allergy & Immunology • Asthma • Cardiology • COPD • Cystic Fibrosis • Exercise & Breathing Performance • Environmental Health • Gastroenterology • Genetics • Oncology • Pediatrics • Pulmonology • Rheumatology • Sleep Medicine Staying true to our founding principles, we accept all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. We also educate the next generation of scientist and physicians through our fellowship program, and provide continuing medical education to medical professionals across the world. In addition, we operate Morgridge Academy, a K-8 school for chronically ill children in the Denver area. It is the only school of its kind in the country, located on a medical campus. You can help us find desperately needed answers for patients from Los Angeles to Denver to New York and around the world. Please consider a gift to help us improve the lives of countless individuals battling some of the most devastating diseases we treat and research. On behalf of everyone at National Jewish Health, thank you for your generosity. There is no greater gift than life and good health. Your investment in our institution will make a meaningful difference to patients around the world for years to come. Learn more at njhealth.org
