Mission Statement

The Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Our mission is to conserve and protect public lands in the Southern Rocky Mountain region through volunteer-based trail and restoration projects, environmental education, and restoration research.

About This Cause

RMFI is committed to protecting and enhancing the ecological health of our land and water resources by completing projects focused on watershed restoration, forest health, and creating sustainable recreation access. By prioritizing the involvement of community volunteers and youth, RMFI envisions a world where our work fosters vibrant and healthy natural systems that are respected and cared for by the public. RMFI relies on the participation of an average of 2,100 volunteers each field season to complete critical trail work and restoration projects throughout the Pikes Peak Region. We run more than 200 volunteer workdays each year primarily in the months April to November. Volunteer opportunities may be found and signed up for on our calendar at www.rmfi.org/events/calendar. We additionally schedule custom group workdays.
