High Country Basset Hound Rescue and Adoption Service, Inc. is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of Basset Hounds.
About This Cause
High Country Basset Hound Rescue and Adoption Service was founded and incorporated in the state of Colorado in 1982. It is operated soley by non-paid volunteers. The general state of the economy, changing lifestyles, and moving are some of the reasons for the abundance of abandoned Basset Hounds. Rescued Bassets come from shelters or are found as strays, whose owners cannot be found. Others are relinquished directly by owners who no longer want them or can no longer take care of them. Each Basset is taken to veterinarian and receives a general health check, vaccinations, and is spayed or neutered. The Rescue provides each dog with an identification tag and collar. The Basset is then placed in a foster home, where it awaits a permanent home.
