Texas Advocates is recognized as the leader in self-advocacy in Texas. Texas Advocates fight to stop unfair treatment and advocate for more and better services and supports for people with disabilities to be included in their communities.
About This Cause
People with disabilities can embrace life and advocate for their own rights and interests by making their own decisions and choosing services and supports that allow them to live the way they want to live. Texas Advocates is a state-wide self-advocacy organization run BY and FOR adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Texas Advocates is made up of 20 chapters run by adults with IDD throughout Texas. Members of our chapter receive peer support, share community-based resources, and receive training and support to fight for better and more community-based services.
