Mission Statement

The mission of Project Vida is to identify the comprehensive vision of the community for its future and to develop community-based structures and programs to implement that vision in light of the needs and direction of the wider society.

About This Cause

Project Vida, and sister agencies Project Vida Health Center and P. V. Community Development Corporation, provide an array of social, educational, health care, housing and economic development services primarily to very low-, low- and moderate-income families and individuals in far West Texas. Services wrap together to address poverty and the effects of poverty among underserved populations in this area of the U.S.-Mexico border region. Project Vida offers evidence-based, best practices early childhood development and education; award-winning child care; innovative out-of-school-time enrichment programs including technology-based skill-building, homework assistance, tutoring, art and more to help prevent high-risk behaviors and gang involvement among school-age children and youth; and curriculum-based in-home and group session parenting education. Project Vida Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center offering integrated primary and behavioral health care, pediatric services, oral health and dental services, substance use disorder treatment and peer recovery coaching, well woman care, family planning, lab, x-rays and pharmacy. Project Vida Health Center operates 13 primary care clinics and facilities in El Paso and Hudspeth Counties, Texas. The Outreach & Wellness Division offers the evidence-based Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, Healthy Cooking, smoking cessation, teen wellness, physical activities such as yoga and zumba, and school-based student and family behavioral health navigation and treatment. P. V. Community Development Corporation is a designated Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) which develops, owns and/or manages, and maintains over 350 affordable dwelling units, primarily in multi-family complexes. The Economic Development Division offers the Microenterprise Technical Assistance Program providing business and financial literacy, and management skill-building, to low- and moderate-income micro-business owners helping them reach and sustain profitability, retain jobs and create new jobs.
