Mission Statement
The mission of the Children's Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend is to minimize the trauma to abused children and their families by uniting the efforts of public agencies and enlisting the support of the community, and to protect, restore, and transform the lives and futures of these children and their families.
About This Cause
The Children’s Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend (CACCB) is a victim-centered, Multidisciplinary team approach to the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. The CACCB provides FREE specialized forensic interviews, therapeutic recovery services, case management, and outreach, education, and prevention services. Children served by the CACCB are victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, drug-endangerment, human trafficking, and witnesses to violent crimes such as homicide and domestic violence. The coordination that the CACCB facilitates among our multidisciplinary team partners (law enforcement, Child Protective Services, Juvenile Justice, Driscoll Children's Hospital, County and District Attorney Offices) often results in higher rates of felony prosecution, increased access to mental health services, and increased access to a forensic medical exam. The CACCB is the only agency of its kind working to reduce the re-victimization of abused children and increase access to FREE trauma informed mental health treatment. Access to the CAC's FREE services is paramount in the healing process. Specifically, the work our Therapy Department is doing with child victims and their families. The CAC's therapists are trained in evidence-based trauma treatment that help children and families cope with the impact of trauma precipitated by child sexual abuse. When children receive proper support through therapy, they are less likely to have learning problems, involvement in the juvenile justice system, and long-term health problems. Services provided by the CAC promote healing and restoration.
