Mission Statement
The First Tee of Greater Austin (TFTGA) a Texas 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was founded in 1999 as a youth development organization dedicated to providing young people with programs to build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choice through the game of golf.
About This Cause
This past year we had over 1,200 students enrolled in our certifying programs with a total impact of just over 12,000 when including our outreach programs. We are one a few First Tee Chapters in the country which own and operates a golf course. The Harvey Penick Golf Campus, located in east Austin opened in 2005 as a means to grow our program and also create a kid and family facility for everyone is Central Texas. In addition to teaching classes at the Harvey Penick Golf Campus, we also have classes at six affiliate sites; Balcones C.C., Blackhawk G.C., Falconhead G.C., Jimmy Clay G.C., Topgolf and Onion Creek G.C. In addition to the traditional First Tee classes we also offer; LPGA-USGA Girls Golf (girls only), Els for Autism (for families with children with Autism), Foundation Tour (introduction to competitive golf), Youth Forum (teenage peer group), PGA Junior League (team golf), Billy Clagett Scholarship (tournament scholarships), camp programs (spring, fall and winter break) and “no school, golf school” (one day camps when school is out of session).
