Mission Statement
We are dedicated to empowering people to know, speak & live their truth by providing a supportive environment & opportunities to bring creative expression to life. Since 2006, we have presented hundreds of literary, artistic, & cultural events. A major goal is to educate and entertain, and we regularly host school groups where we talk about the history of the Beat Generation, and encourage young people to identify something that is important to them, whether a passion or a cause, and to find a way to take action and make a positive difference. We advocate for authenticity and living one's truth with emphasis on creative expression. Our museum is a community center for creative expression where we present and host free events such as readings, book signings, celebrations of life, music, films and group meetings. The Beat Generation was at the forefront of creative expression, counterculture and social movements that are still relevant today. We are living in a time where civil rights, feminism, women's rights, LGBT+, environmentalism, and other movements matter just as much if not more than in previous generations. We tell their stories and introduce people of all ages to the writing, creativity and history of why this generation is so important and how they believed and lived with compassion, acceptance, and championed personal freedom and liberation with the expression of free-flowing thoughts and ideas. About This Cause
Based on our mission, we also travel and present at schools, community centers and at conferences. These offerings require funds to operate and with school budgets being very tight and having to pay performers, and employees to organize, promote and deliver the tours and events, the Foundation for Creative Expression (AKA Friends of the Beat Museum) needs $ to pay for the travel and to arrange, develop and deliver performances, lead tours, and be a venue and community center for all of our educational and creative events.
