Mission Statement
Covenant Prep provides young men from underserved communities the foundation required to successfully pursue higher education, to develop the strength of their character and to inspire them to live with integrity as leaders committed to their communities.
About This Cause
Covenant Preparatory School opened in 2008 in order to meet the educational needs of under-served families. The school partners with students, families, staff and volunteers to form a pact, or covenant, to fulfill the mission of the school. Parents are an active part of the school. Funding for the school comes from individual donors, foundations, corporate sponsorships and grants. The school is supported by a dedicated staff and many volunteers, including AmeriCorps teachers, and corporate, community and education partners. Is a tuition-free, independent day school for boys grades 5 through 8 with a maximum capacity of 60 students; Provides a challenging academic program in a supportive learning environment; Strives to graduate young men who are academically and socially prepared for high school, inspired to lead their lives in the pursuit of excellence, model leadership and integrity, and are committed to their communities; Requires that parents/guardians commit to be actively involved in the school and support their child’s academic experience; An extended school day with morning meeting and afterschool athletics and clubs Mandatory attendance at Summer Academy an academic enrichment camp; Requires students to take the same standardized testing as other middle schools; Receives no federal, state or religious funding; Graduated six classes of 8th graders (June 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016). The entire Covenant Prep class of 2011 entered various colleges and universities in 2015. These include Quinnipiac University, UCONN, Southern Connecticut State University, University of Hartford, UMass-Amherst, Lynchburg College in Virgina, and Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina.
