Mission Statement

Mission Road Developmental Center is a community-based, church sponsored organization with a Call from God to minister to persons with developmental disabilities by helping them achieve their full potential for independence, productivity and inclusion in the community.

About This Cause

Mission Road Developmental Center (MRDC) is a San Antonio based non-profit agency, serving over 400 clients with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD) daily through residential, day services, and vocational programs. 300 well trained care givers and 700+ volunteers work together to help clients achieve independence, productivity, and inclusion in the community. Founded in 1947 as a home for 3 special needs children, MRDC is one of two non profit agencies in Texas providing residential care exclusively to children with IDD who have been removed from their home due to abuse and/or neglect. Our adult and children's programs are licensed and regulated by the state. MRDC receives support from the United Way of San Antonio, government funding through fees paid, and private donations from foundations, corporations and individuals. Strategic plans include addressing the San Antonio IDD community's most pressing needs by expanding adult day services, in-home, caregiver support options and the S.O.A.R. children's summer camp.
