Mission Statement
Located in the heart of Austin, Stephen F. Austin High School is the oldest continuing public high school in Texas. Opening its doors on September 14th 1881, Austin HS is a remarkable example of the 'old downtown school'. Today students from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds pursue academic excellence, guided by a highly qualified and dedicated faculty. The Stephen F. Austin High School PTSA’s mission is to support each Austin HS student’s academic success and make their potential a reality. To do so, the SFA PTSA engages families and community; raising awareness, providing educational programming for students & parents, and funding for student supplemental academic enrichment needs. Austin HS offers more than 250 courses with advanced courses in most disciplines, signature programs, and career-track experiences. Both the school motto and song have become iconic; where truly “Everybody is somebody at Austin High” and the school song “Loyal Forever” is in the hearts and minds of all who attend.
About This Cause
The Stephen F. Austin High School PTSA® is an organization of volunteer parents, teachers, students and community members committed to raising awareness of students’ ongoing needs; providing educational programming for families; supplementing academic enrichment needs by directly impacting the quality of education; as well as fundraising for the continuation of important Austin HS programs & projects that support AHS student academic achievement and a lifetime of success. -Academic Excellence Fund (AEF) gifts received go directly to support AHS students in their academic programs and activities during the current school year as well as supporting AHS 21st Century Learning Environment objectives (classroom enrichment, library workspace redesign, & building upon the AGS Academy model). -Library Fund contributions go directly towards the purchase of books and related materials requested by students and teachers that are not included in the school district’s budget. -Teacher & Staff Appreciation contributions are used to host luncheons, breakfasts, and/or purchase small tokens of appreciation throughout the school year for our teachers. -Landscaping & Grounds contributions are spent directly on the AHS lakefront campus grounds including maintenance and landscaping beautification throughout the calendar year. -Stephen F. Austin High School Endowment contributions are designated as funding for the endowment which ensures the long-term support of AHS academic excellence. Managed by the Austin Community Foundation (ACF), endowment interest earned is received and spent annually by the Stephen F. Austin High School PTSA® to promote academic achievement at Austin High. -The Valentine Breakfast is a springtime teacher & staff appreciation fundraising event that is popular with students and alumni alike. Contributions support event planning, teacher awards, and ongoing SFA PTSA needs not otherwise categorized (i.e. Homecoming events, Operational expenses, SFA PTSA Insurance, PTSA Outreach, and Back to School activities). -Other Donor-designated contributions are those identified by the donors to be allocated to a specific AHS Program, AHS Project, or PTSA Operations. These donations can be restricted to one program or broken-out to meet multiple program/operational needs. Thank you for your support of Stephen F. Austin High School Students. Your contributions will continue the Stephen F. Austin HS legacy of more than 186 years of excellence in education. The SFA PTSA is a member of both the Texas & National PTA.
