Mission Statement
Our mission is to combat hunger and isolation in disabled and older adults by providing nutritious meals enabling them to remain healthy and independent within their families, homes, and communities.
About This Cause
Meals on Wheels Collin County was established in 1976 as a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation by a group interested in the elderly of Collin County, with the expressed purpose of serving Meals on Wheels, The corporation was formed for the purpose of seeking funding to promote better nutrition and additional support services for adults over the age of sixty. The first senior nutrition program began in 1977 with the opening of three senior centers in Farmersville, McKinney and Plano. A total of one hundred meals were served daily at the three centers. Other senior centers were added through the years. Home delivered meals were served throughout the county. Today approximately 950 meals are delivered daily to homes and congregate sites throughout Collin County. Meals deliveries to the homes of the elderly would not be possible without involvement of volunteer citizens in our communities. It takes the dedication of hundreds of community volunteers to make daily personal home deliveries possible.
