Mission Statement
Empowering communities to eliminate hunger by providing food, education and resources through innovation and collaboration
About This Cause
Founded in 1982, Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) is the nexus of relief efforts in the Fort Worth region. Primarily, the Food Bank shares as the regional clearinghouse for the acquisition and distribution of food to hungry families. Working through its network of 380 partner agencies, such as soup kitchens, senior centers, churches, and community food pantries, TAFB provides an average of one million meals each week and distributes over 60 million pounds of food annually. Serving Tarrant and 12 other North Texas counties, the Food Bank works beyond providing families with their next meal by also offering support programs, including nutrition education, community gardens, job training, and social services assistance. The mission of Tarrant Area Food Bank is empowering our communities to alleviate hunger by providing food, education, and resources.
