Mission Statement
WTFB exists to collect, purchase, and distribute food to feed the hungry in 19 counties in West Texas in partnership with volunteers and community organizations and to educate these partners and the public at large about the real face of hunger.
About This Cause
The West Texas Food Bank (WTFB) is a nonprofit, non-governmental hunger relief organization. We are the largest collaborative nonprofit agency in the Permian Basin, and proudly distribute donated and purchased food to children, families, and seniors through a network of 100+ Partner Agencies in 19 counties across 34,000 square miles in West Texas. We are constantly growing and changing to meet the needs of our communities, which range from a rural base, to major cities like Odessa and Midland. While the WTFB does give food directly to those in need, we primarily function as a distribution center. After receiving donated and surplus food, as well as food purchased at low wholesale prices from manufacturers, the WTFB serves as a clearinghouse to solicit, store, inspect, and repack food for our Partner Agencies. Last year, the WTFB distributed an astounding 13 million pounds of food, which totaled over 15 million nutritious meals for children, families, and seniors. We work hard to make sure every dollar is used as efficiently as possible. In fact, $5 donated equals 10 meals, and $.92 of every dollar donated to the West Texas Food Bank goes directly to feeding hungry West Texans.
