Mission Statement
The Boys Clubs of Dallas Foundation supports the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
About This Cause
Established in 1965, BGCD's local Clubhouses serve thousands of kids each year with programs based on the intellectual, physical, and social needs of youth. Programs enhance character and self-esteem, are educational and fun, and contribute to youth fulfilling their potential. BGCD provides: • A safe place to learn and grow, • Ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals, • Life-enhancing programs and character development experiences, and • Hope and opportunity. Our holistic approach, based on measurable outcomes, is delivered through three core programs: • Academic Success engages members in fun, hands-on activities where they practice and learn reading, writing, speaking, math, and scientific inquiry. The program reinforces the skills and knowledge learned at school while remaining focused on the priority outcome for members to graduate from high school ready for their future. • Healthy Lifestyles equips youth with the knowledge and skills to engage in positive and productive behavior. Participants learn to make responsible choices, set well-defined personal goals, and live healthier lives. Programming includes activities centered on drug prevention and awareness, developing positive eating habits, sports and physical fitness, and building positive self-esteem. • Good Character & Citizenship helps youth develop leadership capabilities, engage in community service activities, and participate in civic leadership.
