OUR VALUES Teamwork: We believe in protecting youth through a collaborative approach involving clients, staff, volunteers, and the community. Diversity: We believe in empowering change using the strengths, talents, unique perspectives, and experiences of all those engaged in our mission. Growth: We believe education, advocacy, and continuum of care are critical to transforming the lives of those working to overcome crises and maximize their potential. OUR STORY Founded in 1988, by PISD school counselor Nancy Boyd, and educator Kay Goodman, what began as a 6-bed teen shelter has grown into a 48-bed multi-faceted agency that includes a children’s emergency shelter, three transitional living homes, free individual & family counseling services, street outreach, and a Youth Resource & Community Outreach Center. Serving Collin, Dallas & Denton Counties and the majority of North Texas, the mission of City House is to provide emergency shelter, transitional residential living and street outreach programs and services to at-risk children, youth and young adults (newborn to 22 years) who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness, with a special focus on supporting the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people.
