Mission Statement
Angel Flight South Central helps people in need of free air transportation for medical and humanitarian purposes. Angel Flight arranges travel through a network of volunteer pilots for people who require specialized medical treatment not available to them locally.
About This Cause
Every year, Angel Flight South Central pilots fly thousands of missions to save lives and help people live longer. These incredible pilots volunteer their skills, use their own planes, and donate the cost of the flight to provide free transportation for people who need to travel long distances for life-saving treatment. Our volunteer pilots provide this service at no cost to the patients or passengers. Since 1991, our pilots have flown more than 38,000 missions and have contributed more than $110 million to this effort. Angel Flight South Central collaborates with hospitals, physician's offices, social workers, and social service agencies to identify those who need our services the most. People of all ages may qualify for a flight, from infants to senior citizens. And, passengers may invite a companion to travel with them. Our mission coordination team connects passengers in need of transportation with pilots available to fly so that details including airport of departure and destination can be confirmed. On the day of travel, the passenger or patient meets the pilot at a local airport and is flown to an airport near their treatment facility. For longer flights, multiple mission “legs” are arranged with additional pilots. Angel Flight South Central coordinates with several similar agencies across the nation, which allows us to provide service to patients and passengers who require travel beyond our primary service region. Because of the sacrifice and commitment of our volunteer pilots, we believe that no one has to be denied critical medical care solely due to the barrier of distance.
