About This Cause
Communities In Schools of Greater Tarrant County uses a unique model to keep students in the classroom. CIS places licensed Social Workers, called Program Managers, directly inside local schools. Our Program Managers create one-on-one relationships with students identified as at-risk for dropping out. It’s through this relationship that the Program Manager can identify and eradicate the barriers keeping the student from their education. Barriers like hunger, abuse, neglect, and poverty are some of the issues our Program Managers tackle every day. When these obstacles are managed, teachers are able to teach and students are able to learn. This unique, evidence-based approach is extremely effective, yielding impressive results every year. In our 26 years of existence, our stay-in-school rate has never dropped below 97%. Communities In Schools can’t do it alone. We rely on the faculty and staff at our schools and over 80 service provider partners to ensure students get the help they need.
