Mission Statement
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a volunteer-based non-profit organization serving the Denton County area. CASA volunteers are appointed by the court to serve as advocates for abused or neglected children removed from their homes by Child Protective Services (CPS). These volunteers investigate and monitor a child’s situation while in alternative or foster care. Within a twelve to eighteen month time period, they make a recommendation to the presiding judge as to what permanent placement would be in the best interest of the child.
About This Cause
For 25 years, CASA of Denton County has been a leader in protecting our most vulnerable population by providing everyday heroes, CASA Volunteer Advocates, to represent abused and neglected children in court. Since 1992, with the support of our donors, CASA Advocates have served over 3,600 children right here in North Texas. Just alone, in 2017, 234 CASA advocates served 604 children in North Texas. Unfortunately, as CASA continued to serve more children than ever before so have our needs. In 2017, CASA of Denton County was not able to serve 62 children or 10% of the children navigating the child welfare system in Denton County. It is our vision to provide a CASA for all children eligible for services.
