Mission Statement
The mission of Maharashtra Mandal of Dallas fortworth is to provide a forum to promote cultural ties among people who are interested in the Maharashtrian culture and to preserve and pass on the values of the rich heritage to future generation.
About This Cause
Dallas-Fort Worth Maharashtra Mandal (DFWMM) was established as a nonprofit cultural organization in 1986 under the federal 501(c)(3) classification. Its mission is to promote and propagate Marathi culture and serve the needs of Marathi speaking population (originally from the western state of Maharashtra, India) in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. Marathi culture is known for its rich heritage of Marathi language, art, literature, theater, folk, spirituality, festivals, and traditions. DFWMM is a 100% volunteer-run organization and is home to 500 plus families with more than 1000 individual members. It is the only organization that caters to the cultural needs of Marathi speaking community in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Dallas/Fort Worth Maharashtra Mandal is affiliated to a national organization called Bruhan Maharashtra Mandal of North America (BMM), an umbrella organization in the USA and Canada for more than 60 organizations. DFWMM has acquired the status as “Large” mandal (member) of BMM. Dallas/Fort Worth Maharashtra Mandal is also a proud host of BMM’s 19th biennial convention (BMM2019) in Dallas at Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center and is preparing to serve over 4000 Marathi speaking community in the USA and Canada between July 11th and July 14th of 2019. We encourage and appeal to all good Samaritans to help us in this massive undertaking. Every year we host about 6-7 events mainly around occasions of Marathi cultural significance. The organization of these events and general operation of the Dallas-Fort Worth Maharashtra Mandal (DFWMM) is handled by a committee of officials elected each year by members. We strive to offer a variety of entertainment and social programs and support the growth and presence of cultural activities in the metroplex. DFWMM also provides a platform for talented members of the community to showcase their talents/skills during various programs/competitions. DFWMM also undertakes Marathi language classes for kids.
