Camp Harbor View changes lives and enhances Boston by exposing under served youth to the possibilities of a future they may have never envisioned. We provide unique experiences that let kids be kids, build confidence, unlock creativity, broaden horizons and foster skills for successful lives. Our exceptional summer camp experience and year-long programming helps kids to envision new pathways to success by providing life-shaping experiences at a critical time in their lives
About This Cause
Founded in 2007, Camp Harbor View is a haven for at-risk kids from inner-city neighborhoods in Boston. Located on Long Island in Boston Harbor, Camp Harbor View welcomes 900 young people (ages 11-14) to two, four-week summer camp sessions and provides a leadership development and summer jobs program for over 100 teens (ages 15-18). Camp Harbor View offers an outstanding summer camp experience. An average camp session includes a wide array of fun activities, including: swimming, sailing, rock wall and ropes course climbing, art, music, fishing, basketball, tennis, soccer, baseball, football, biking and performance arts. Camp Harbor View also includes programs and support services not typically found at summer camps. These services include: free round-trip transportation for all campers, breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, free dental and vision screenings, full-time onsite clinical social workers that offer supports to campers and their families, career exploration, and experiential learning. After the summer camp sessions have finished, the Camp Harbor View programming continues at our year-round location in the South End. The campers in our program, as well as their families, are all provided with access to empowering life-skills programs focused on financial education, mentoring and job readiness. In addition to this, they also have continued access to a team of dedicated social workers who can assist them with a range of social, emotional and financial issues. Camp Harbor View is more than a year long program and a summer camp, it is a community for kids in Boston and more importantly: for our future leaders.
