Mission Statement

The Callier Center for Communication Disorders at The University of Texas at Dallas helps people communicate throughout their lives –– to hear and be heard, to understand and be understood. For more than 50 years, Callier has provided treatment, training and research to help people of all ages hear, speak and connect with others.

About This Cause

The Callier Center is one of the nation’s preeminent centers of excellence that furthers treatment, training and research in communication disorders. Callier provides leading-edge clinical care to more than 4,000 patients per year while discovering and teaching new technologies and treatments for the future. CALLIER CARE FUND The Callier Center for Communication Disorders helps people communicate throughout their lives – to hear and be heard, to understand and be understood. Ruth and Ken Altshuler created the Callier Care Fund to provide care to children and adults regardless of their income level or insurance coverage. For many patients with speech, language and hearing disorders, the journey of care requires ongoing therapeutic and rehabilitative services – sometimes over the patient’s lifespan. The cost of these services can be overwhelming, especially when families are faced with limited financial resources. The Callier Care Fund gives patients access to essential care that will help them be able to hear, speak and connect with the world. THE HEART OF CALLIER: A Heart for All Callier is committed to transforming the lives of all patients regardless of their income level or insurance coverage. Many healthcare facilities across North Texas have ceased treating patients with Medicaid insurance, because it only partially covers the cost of clinical care. These patients – many of whom are children and their families – turn to Callier for help. CALLIER’S LIFELINE: The Generosity of Its Donors Gifts made to the Callier Care Fund touch every patient that Callier serves. Every dollar donated is allocated directly to sustaining patient care through Callier’s outstanding clinical programs. Many Callier patients receive direct financial assistance, because they are uninsured, or their health insurance does not cover the necessary clinical care. Donors make the difference!
