About This Cause

Theatre Three is a 62 year old theatre-in-the-round in Uptown Dallas, led by Artistic Director, Jeffrey Schmidt. Theatre Three seeks to illuminate the human experience with exemplary theatrical productions while nurturing authors, regional artists and audiences. Founded in 1961 by Norma Young and Jac Alder, Theatre Three is a professional Equity theatre with two performance spaces: Norma Young Arena Stage (shows are staged in-the-round in a 206 seat theatre) and Theatre Too (an intimate studio space seating 80.) The theatre presents classic and contemporary plays and musicals in a year round season. Theatre Three strives to be a home for DFW’s professional theatre artists, and nurtures both mature and emerging artists. Theatre Three will serve approximately 30,000 people through the following programs: a season of Arena Stage productions of musicals, dramas, comedies, and classics; Theatre Too studio productions; post show panel discussions for Theatre Three student shows on the Norma Young Arena Stage; hosting/housing cultural events produced by other Dallas cultural/civic organizations; and an apprenticeship program for recent college graduates.
