Mission Statement

Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County is a local united Christian organization dedicated to providing love, hope, respect, and a new beginning for the homeless, offering a holistic program of care that leads to true, lasting healing.

About This Cause

UGM-TC has served Fort Worth for more than 127 years, founded by local churches to help address the needs of the growing homeless population. UGM-TC is more than a shelter. The organization not only serves the county’s homeless, but works to move people out of homelessness by guiding individuals through a myriad of services. UGM-TC's residency program offers a holistic style program of care. Physical needs are met by providing food, stable housing, and healthcare. UGM-TC helps residents to face their emotional challenges by providing individualized case management, counseling, fellowship opportunities, and a variety of life skills classes. Residents are able to fulfill their spiritual needs through daily chapel services and the religious educational program ALPHA. UGM-TC sees the social difficulties that can accompany homelessness and works to help residents build strong, supportive relationships with their case manager, staff, and other residents who can relate to their journey. In 2015, UGM-TC served 3,851 unduplicated people. Of those, 854 people were residents, 147 residents graduated from the Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County program, 209 individuals or families moved into housing, and 331 households were set up for residents and referrals to return to our community.
