About This Cause
Undertake programs, services and partnerships that benefit children, families and our broader community within the city of Houston. Foster an environment of collaboration that ensures those positively uplifted by ONPEC, Inc., are willing and able to replicate that impact to those within their families, networks and community circles to improve an overall quality of life. During this pandemic period, ONPEC, in partnership with the City of Houston Health Department, is currently providing the resource facility to undertake vaccine distribution (first, second and / or boosters) on November 6th, to the Houston community in need of these immunizations. This will benefit and impact high-risk / lower turnout persons, in an environment where they may be more comfortable taking these important protective vaccine measures. Mentoring programs with elementary school students at Thompson Elementary school have re-opened this year, with students physically back on campus. Reading and male-mentoring programs are now underway again, significantly influencing positive outcomes for kids from grades 2 through 5. The ONPEC, Inc., facility has now been outfitted with a computer laboratory to advance and offering of STEM study groups for after-school and weekend usage. These programs will get started during the Christmas break this year, and continue as the 2022 school year unfolds. Middle school and High School students, from Ryan Middle School and Yates High School, will be the focus of the initial thrust of this program. ONPEC has currently awarded four (4) College Scholarships to deserving graduating high school seniors. These scholarships are one-time awards, for deserving students and include 1-$2,000.00 Scholarship and 3 - $1,000.00 Scholarship; funds were disbursed at the beginning of the Fall 2021 Semester. ONPEC expects to grow these scholarships to at least twice the number of students in the Fall 2022 Semester.
