About This Cause

BTMCA owns and operates The Blue Triangle Community Center located in Houston's historic Third Ward. The center was built by and served as Houston's YWCA until 1998. Restored and reopened by BTMCA, the center's legacy as a nucleus for community recreation continues. Signature programs include learn to swim programs, Annual Breakfast with Santa and Toy Give-a-ways, The Blue Triangle Garden Club, and The Blue Triangle Quilt Guild. Additional activities include fitness classes, computer classes, and after school and summer programs. The center also houses rooms that may be rented for meetings and workshops. The Blue Triangle is also home to a Dr. John T. Biggers Mural entitled "Contributions of Negro Women to American Life and Education." The center is a mecca for arts, education, culture and recreation.
