Mission Statement
A brief introduction about us, we are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization, and it has always been our mission to enhance the quality of life for older Korean adults (65+) in Santa Clara County and its vicinity through adult learning classes with opportunities for social interaction, recreation, education, volunteerism, and community activism in partnership with public and private organizations. KASCL- SC was initially founded and established on Nov 10, 1987 in Santa Clara County and have continued to serve the local community since then, however, our ever- changing fast-paced society has prompted us to look away from the past and envision pathways to re-establish our organization around core values that correlate more directly with current community needs, that being commitment to addressing health and social disparities in the Korean American and local communities. Following the new inauguration of President, Kyung Soo Choi, our vision has changed from not only focusing on the aforementioned social interaction, recreation, education, volunteerism for senior citizens in the Korean community but also becoming a model for integrated and accessible health and human services while serving as a gateway for other County, government, and community resources. Although the reality is that there is a current lack of representation for Korean Americans and the local community within the public sector, we take that as a strength over a weakness to remain committed to building upon the resources that we currently have and calling upon the attention of local leaders to take what we have to share as a unique addition to the existing ethnic communities in the City of San Jose and what can be done to improve the quality of life, especially for senior citizens and future generations alike. In commemoration of our organization’s largest year end event in 42 years and to recognize the journey of our past and upcoming future together, we would like to reflect on the growth and development of the Korean American Senior Citizens League of Santa Clara and express our deepest gratitude to all those who have helped us understand what it truly means to be a non-profit organization for the community, accessible to those who are truly in need and coming together to share an understanding of the Korean heritage and culture. Therefore, your valued participation gives us great strength and courage and will be an important moment to celebrate our achievements and move towards our future goals. The Korean American Senior Citizens League of Santa Clara looks forward to coming together to honor our history, share our future visions, and work towards a brighter future based on cultural inclusivity.
