The Alta Vista Home and School Club's mission it to enrich the educational experience of students at Alta Vista Elementary School.
About This Cause
What is the AVHSC? Like a PTA, we are a non-profit organization that provides extra programs for Alta Vista students that would not otherwise be provided by the state, the school or the Union School District. All Alta Vista parents are automatically members of the Home & School Club. Volunteers help run the organization, organize activities throughout the year, and bring hands-on expertise and assistance to the student enrichment programs at Alta Vista. There are many opportunities to volunteer and get involved. Whether you prefer hands-on work with the kids or would like to help behind the scenes, we have a role for you. Our Executive Board consists of a group of parents and teacher and school representatives dedicated to enhancing the learning experience at Alta Vista and to strengthening our school community. Any Alta Vista parent may participate and we welcome your involvement. What Do We Do? Our mission is to provide enrichment programs for Alta Vista students that supplement the school’s core curriculum and our goal is to make the elementary school experience richer for both students and parents. We provide a number of programs at the school, such as Art Vistas, Clay, Performing Arts/Music, PE, organized lunchtime activities, assemblies, and field trips, just to name a few. We also supply the funds to purchase much-needed computers and technology for use in the media lab and classrooms, books for the library, and additional classroom supplies for the teachers not otherwise provided by the District. In addition to funding enrichment, we sponsor fun family events throughout the year, including Back-to-School Movie Night, the Walkathon, Multicultural Night, Fantasy Faire and the Spring Auction. We are only able to do this because of the generous donations and support from you, our Alta Vista parents.
