Mission Statement
Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen commits to providing no cost, hot nutritious meals and support services in a dignified, safe and caring environment. We offer services to all in need, with a special emphasis on families, seniors and the homeless.
About This Cause
Loaves & Fishes is the only provider of hot meals in eastern Santa Clara County to anyone in need including children, families and the homeless. Loaves & Fishes serves more than 10,000+ meals each week or approximately over half a million annually. We are committed to nutritiously balanced meals and are one of the few meal programs that do not rely on overly processed convenience foods, as fresh vegetables and fruit are served at each meal. Our farm provides fresh and delicious peppers, lettuce, citrus, and other produce that is used to augment the produce donated to Loaves & Fishes. In 2014, we centralized our meal preparation into one commissary kitchen, and acquired new warehouse and office space that allowed us to consolidate our administrative, food storage, and operations activities (except for cooking) into a single facility. Because of these more efficient operations, our year-to-date number of meals served is up 101% over last year, while our cost per meal is down 57%. Loaves & Fishes expanded their reach into new cities and now serves San Jose, Palo Alto, Morgan Hill, and Gilroy, delivering 54 meals drops a week and covering 50 miles. Loaves & Fishes was founded in 1980 to fill a void in the community for these special populations.
