Mission Statement

To support a world of gender equality, Global Give Back Circle and its partners economically empower at-risk adolescent girls and guide them on how to use their skills and talents to give back to their communities.

About This Cause

Since 2006, Global Give Back Circle has implemented a holistic process to a girl’s transitioning from a mindset of marginalization to that of economic empowerment. The process leverages existing infrastructures at partner high schools where we provide girls access to digital skills, life skills, workforce-readiness skills, give back community service opportunities and one-to-one mentorship. The process also leverages the reach of communications technology to connect girls with dedicated mentors – women, local or oceans away, committed to being her champion and broadening her frame-of-reference around career, vocational, employment and entrepreneurship, opportunities. Building awareness around STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture & Math) opportunities continues to grow in importance as more and more girls are finding their passion in these areas. To support girls to continue their education Global Give Back Circle partners with governments, foundations, and private sector organizations. Our mentoring model leverages email, Skype, WhatsApp, Teams, and other communication platforms. We make it easy, and guide mentors to be in-step with the educational journey of their mentee. Most mentors decide to mentor because they believe they are ready to give back. What surprises them most, is how much ‘they’ grow by walking-in-the-shoes of a brave and resilient girl who is passionate about being a change-maker in her community. 80% of our mentors never actually meet their mentee face-to-face, but they think of them as part of their family all the same. Technology connects us in remarkable ways. If you are ready to expand your empathy, challenge your innovation thinking and broaden your own leadership horizons, please consider joining our ‘Mentor Circle’! All of the girls in the program are at-risk girls, from marginalized communities. Their families are unable to afford the costs of education. Scholarship support is critical to keeping them in school. Global Give Back Circle has provided scholarship support to over 4,000 girls since 2006. We support girls and young women to attend high school, college, university, and trade school. In addition to mentoring, many mentors also provide scholarship support – many leveraging ‘employee donation matching programs’ from companies they work for. For mentors who do not have the means to sponsor a girl’s education, we appeal to the philanthropy of individuals and private sector companies, and the development agenda of government organizations to assist with scholarship funding. If you wish to help us provide scholarships for the girls in the program, please consider donating. It will be greatly be appreciated. The bedrock of the Global Give Back Circle is ‘Giving Back’. Some say, “How can you expect girls who have nothing to give back to society?” To that, we question “How can you not?” All the girls in the program commit to serious Give Back Projects, ones with weekly implementation activities and annual progress reports. Giving back builds their confidence as they witness the impact of their efforts. Giving back does not discriminate – its playing field is level. Giving back empowers them. Yes, they participate in many empowerment workshops throughout their years in the Global Give Back Circle, but nothing compares to the level of empowerment embedded through the implementation of a high impact Give Back Project. In the Global Give Back Circle, empowerment and giving back are inextricably intertwined. Embedding a give back ethos is the program’s sustainability engine, as beneficiaries are empowered to be benefactors. We also support additional programming for the Unique Economic Empowerment needs of Rural Adolescent Girls. 25% of the world’s population is comprised of rural women. Their economic empowerment opportunities cannot be ignored. Guiding this extremely marginalized population into fulfilling work is complex and there are no existing road maps. ‘Her Lab’ is an Economic Empowerment Incubator located in West Pokot, Kenya. It is a post-secondary school, 6-month, 21st Century Skills Program, providing rural adolescent girls access to bridge-to-employment opportunities. They become role-models for ‘transformational leadership’ as they give back to their communities in ways which ensure all rise as they rise. They board at ‘HER Lab’ and gain skills in Leadership, Digital Literacy, Coding, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Bead-work, Hair Design, Baking and Reproductive Health. Being a mentor to a girl in the Global Give Back Circle is a life-changing experience. If you are looking for a very personal and high-impact way to Give Back your time and talent, please consider changing the life of a girl in the program. We make it easy.
