Mission Statement
The Literacy Coalition breaks the cycle of intergenerational poverty through holistic literacy services.
About This Cause
1 in 5 adults in Central Texas struggle to read or write well enough to fill out a job application. The Literacy Coalition is the only agency in the region solely focused on breaking cycles of inter-generational poverty to improve the lives and livelihoods of families through literacy instruction. REACH We connect adults and families in need to literacy programs, and literacy programs to each other. TEACH We teach literacy classes for those in need, and teach nonprofit volunteers and staff how to deliver effective literacy programming. UNITE We provide a unified voice for literacy in Central Texas, and engage the community around the need for literacy services.
