Mission Statement
Impact100 Philadelphia engages women in philanthropy and collectively funds high impact grants to nonprofits in the Philadelphia region.
About This Cause
Impact100 Philadelphia is an innovative nonprofit bringing individual women donors together to learn about philanthropy while collectively funding large grants. The goal of Impact100 Philadelphia is to provide high-impact $100,000 grants that reach under-served populations, raise the profile of lesser known nonprofit organizations, and highlight unmet needs in the Philadelphia region. By pooling our contributions we can make an impact as a group that we cannot make as individuals. Since its founding in 2008, Impact100 has awarded over $2.7 million in grants to 44 nonprofit organizations in the Philadelphia region. From 111 members in its founding year, Impact100 Philadelphia has grown to 398 women during the most recent grant cycle to award a total of $382,500 in 2019 to five finalists: three $100,000 project grants and two general operating grants of $41,250. Key Facts About Impact100 Philadelphia: - Membership is open to women, age 21 or older, who each contribute toward the grants to be awarded that year and our general operating fund. This is a one-year commitment; continued membership is an annual decision. There are two membership options: General Membership requires an annual donation of $1,150. Young Philanthropist Membership, available to women 21-35 years old, requires a reduced annual donation of $575. - Every member has the opportunity to join a focus area committee to review grant proposals, attend site visits, participate in education programs, and become a member of Impact’s leadership team. While there are many opportunities for involvement, there are no participation requirements. - Nonprofit organizations apply for a $100,000 “Core Mission” grant in one of five focus areas: Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Family, or Health & Wellness. - Finalists are selected after a detailed process of proposal evaluation by members. The grant recipients are chosen by a vote of the entire membership (“one woman, one vote”). - Of the $1,150 membership contribution, all but $50 is tax deductible. $1,000 is allotted to the grant pool that is awarded each June, and $150 supports Impact100 operating expenses. The latter includes costs for technology, member education, meeting space, and general business needs. - Impact100 Philadelphia members reside in the greater Philadelphia region including southern New Jersey, Mount Airy, Chestnut Hill, Center City, and the Philadelphia suburbs. Our members represent a mosaic of backgrounds, occupations, experiences, broad concerns, and individual interests. We are professionals, entrepreneurs, teachers, mothers, artists, students, and retirees who live in the Philadelphia and surrounding counties.
