Mission Statement
Imagina Children’s Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Boca Raton organization created in 2010 dedicated to inspiring and empowering disadvantaged youth through community programs that increase literacy, foster artistic creativity and leverage technology to mold tomorrow's future generation. It was created in response to the growth and increasing needs of the Imagina Children’s Library, founded in 1995 in Leon, México. We believe that in order to succeed, children need to experience art, culture, music and joy in a safe space. Our educational and artistic programs are structured to foster values and leadership skills in our students, with the aim of preparing them for a full and productive life.
About This Cause
ICF was founded in response to the amazing growth of Imagina Children's Library, and over the years has evolved into a key component of Imagina’s success. The children's library was first started in 1995 by our founder, Lulis Camarena, with the aim to provide underprivileged children in a poverty stricken area of Leon, Mexico with the same magical opportunities her children enjoyed in children's libraries in California. Our goal is to provide as many children as possible with quality, enriching course offerings that have a lasting impact. What started as distributing books to an impoverished area in Leon later became temporary libraries in generously donated spaces. Today, Imagina consists of two libraries, a pre-school and a flourishing ecological and cultural center. These spaces have become a beacon of hope and safety for the community, where children and their families can learn and work towards a better future. In addition to an incredible orchestra program, Imagina offers a variety of artistic and educational after school programs.
